Origin
This croton came from the nursery of Dr. Frank Brown who had not labeled this hybrid. For years we thought that it was Chief due to the similarities of their color and leaf patterns. In 2023 we obtained a Chief from Ree Gardens and, as it grew bigger and bigger it took on a different appearance from Not-a-chief, so we sought help from Croton guru, Jeff Searle, and others. The consensus was that Marie Nock had the actual Chief and we got an imposter, which we renamed Not-a-chief.
